Tips for Picking Out the Perfect Engagement Ring

How does a guy pick the perfect engagement ring for his future wife? When it comes to engagement ring shopping there are a few tips every guy needs to know.

Find out her ring size: You can try taking a ring of hers and slipping it on your own finger and take a note on where it stops on your finger. Or if you don’t mind involving a friend or family member they can always get the ring size for you.  

Ask others for help: Asking her best friend or family member may help your search for that perfect ring go much smoother. While someone else’s opinion may help, you may risk blowing the surprise of the proposal.

Know her style: Does she like contemporary designs or more traditional? Is her jewelry flashy or more understated? Does she usually wear silver-colored jewelry or pieces made of yellow gold? Pay attention to subtle hints she may drop. This will make choosing the perfect ring easier!

Don’t forget to ask your jeweler questions. After all, that’s what we are here for!

A Sapphire for Your Thoughts...

In my latest jewelry musings, I’ve been thinking how tradition plays an important part of many love stories.  Asking the bride-to-be’s father for her hand, proposing on one knee, slipping a beautiful diamond on her finger, romantic dreams are made of these! However, living in Austin has given me a true appreciation for all things unique and individual, so I have been pleasantly surprised by recent proposals where sapphires have taken center stage.  Granted, Kate Middleton’s amazing blue rock has been all the buzz lately, but Austinites are finding new and creative ways to express their commitment with sapphires of every shape and color.  Check out the incredible sapphires below and let us know what you think.  Would you love a sapphire or other gem for your engagement ring?  We can’t wait to hear from you!

 

 
                    



    

 

         

 

A Central Park Fairy Tale Proposal

I must say, this is such an honor for me to be able to share this with all of our fans. Never did I imagine that I would be part of such a beautiful, special, and personal life changing experience. The day my brother Rico came in to see me at Calvin’s bringing along our younger brother, Marcos, he said he was looking for diamond studs for a Christmas gift and wanted our help finding the perfect pair. As I was showing him earrings and going over diamond quality, he surprises us with the news that he is really there to find an engagement ring! He wanted us to be the first to know the wonderful news.

There are no words that can express the happiness I felt at that very moment. I am so thankful to be able to have assisted my very own brother in selecting the perfect diamond and ring for his soon to be fiancé. Who would have thought that 3 years ago when I introduced Sara and my brother that they would be engaged today! With all my happiness in my heart, I am extremely privileged to announce that on February 2, 2011 Ricardo Dominguez asked for Sara Boynton’s hand in marriage!  

Congratulations to my oldest brother, Rico and to my new sister, Sara, whom we welcome dearly to our family! These special moments are the reasons why I love what I do!
