In my latest jewelry musings, I’ve been thinking how tradition plays an important part of many love stories. Asking the bride-to-be’s father for her hand, proposing on one knee, slipping a beautiful diamond on her finger, romantic dreams are made of these! However, living in Austin has given me a true appreciation for all things unique and individual, so I have been pleasantly surprised by recent proposals where sapphires have taken center stage. Granted, Kate Middleton’s amazing blue rock has been all the buzz lately, but Austinites are finding new and creative ways to express their commitment with sapphires of every shape and color.
